Watch Out for These 3 Pests in Your Bathroom

3 Minutes Posted on:

It is common to see pests in a kitchen as this is an area where the insects have access to food and water. Another room you may not consider is your bathroom. Below are three pests you may find in this room and what you can do about them.

Roaches

When you think of roaches you likely think of finding them in your kitchen, but they may also be in your bathroom. Roaches love decay they may find in a bathroom drain. Roaches also love high humidity and moist areas, which they find in bathrooms. It is best to contact a pest control company if you see roaches. It can be difficult for you to get them out on your own. One thing you can do in a bathroom is to clean your drains regularly.

Carpenter Ants

Carpenter ants like humidity so a bathroom is a perfect place for them to live. They also like wood and are small enough to burrow inside the wood. These ants are a reddish-brown color and may have wings. If you have these ants, you may see small areas of sawdust from where they burrow into wood. If you have a lot of carpenter ants in your bathroom you will see them during the day.

First, seal up areas where the ants are getting in. This may be small cracks in tile or small areas of missing grout. Once you do this you can purchase a spray that is safe for humans at a home improvement store. You can also purchase ant traps to kill the ants. This trap is a gel-like liquid that you squeeze onto a card. Set the card in different areas of your bathroom. The gel liquid is poison, but it tastes good to wants.

Centipedes

You will not see centipedes during the day as they are nocturnal. If you get up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom you may notice these insects. The main problem with this is they can live up to five years so they may be in your bathroom for a long time before you know it.

These insects are generally yellowish-brown and may have stripes. They can get up to a few inches long depending on their age. These insects are venomous if you are bitten by one so the problem should be dealt with as soon as you see one of these insects. The best way to do this is to contact a pest control company. They will know where to look for their hiding places so they can kill all of them.

There are many other insects you can find in a bathroom. For more assistance, contact residential pest control services.
